I met a man today. He was from Germany and in the United States for a meeting. He was able to come to our agency to take a tour and spend some time with our team. His English was very good with very little accent. He shared some history of Germany and the United Methodist Church. We learned of some of the struggles he experiences working in communications. Some similar to the United States.
I received an email from my friend in South Africa. He is concerned about the elections coming up. The soon-to-be president has been in trouble and his "followers" have said they are willing to kill for him. Xenophobia is still an issue.
Some communities in South Africa have as many as 1 in 4 with AIDS. They have medication, but no food to take with the medication. Refugees from Sudan have escaped massacres only to die in camps from a mosquito bite.
And in the U.S., would you believe there are still people who go hungry? People without affordable healthcare and housing? Even xenophobia. What will you do about the injustices? What will I do?
